Hollow-core slabs
Hollow-core slabs are pre-stressed, industrially manufactured slab elements. By means of longitudinal hollows it has been possible to achieve lighter slabs, which can be used for the ground floors, intermediate floors and roofing decks of residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
The slabs are cast using the slipform method on 144-metre long pre-stressing beds made of steel. The production capacity of the hollow-core slab factories of Rajaville Oy in Haukipudas and Oulu is over 250,000 m2 per year.
Shaped and compacted by the concrete spreader, the slab retains its shape on the bed without mould edges. When the concrete has achieved sufficient strength, the slabs can be sawn to the correct measure. The sawn slabs are provided with water holes, which can be insulated if necessary. After this, the hollow-core slabs are transferred to loads.
- Slab thicknesses: 200, 265, 320, 370 (noise-reducing slab) and 400 mm.

Thin-shell slabs
A thin-shell slab is a thin, pre-stressed slab element, intended as a mould for concrete poured on site. Together with the concrete poured on top of it, the thin-sell slab also serves as a composite structure that contains the main reinforcement. Thin-shell slabs are used in ground and intermediate floors and parking floors. Thin-shell slabs are manufactured mainly in the same way as hollow-core slabs. The floor can be designed to be either supported or without support during the top pouring.
- Slab thicknesses: 90-160 mm.
